Trish Stratus Explains Why She Attacked Becky Lynch

WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus has explained why she took out Becky Lynch after costing her the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship and confirmed she also attacked her old friend, Lita.

Stratus returned to WWE on the February 27th, 2023 edition of Raw where she helped even up the sides for Becky Lynch and Lita as they became WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions by defeating the Damage CTRL duo of IYO SKY and Dakota Kai who were being assisted by Bayley.

At WrestleMania 39, the six women competed in a tag team match with the team of Lynch and her two WWE Hall of Fame partners coming out on top without incident. However, Stratus had bigger plans in mind.

On the 10th of April edition of Raw, Lynch, and Lita were set to defend their title against Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan but Lita was attacked backstage. Stratus, Lynch, and WWE official Adam Pearce were quickly on the scene where Lynch accused the challengers of the assault.

With Lita out of commission, Stratus volunteered to join The Man in her title defence and it was the Canadian star that was rolled up by Liv Morgan to see new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions crowned. Lynch tried to console her before Stratus attacked her and took her out with a Chick Kick.

On Raw in North Little Rock, Arkansas, Trish Stratus explained her actions on a night when Becky Lynch made perfectly clear that she would not be at the show.

Stratus told the crowd that she is the reason that women’s wrestling is now treated so seriously and that rather than booing her, the crowd should be chanting “Thank you Trish!” The Canadian star also explained that those three words were something that Becky Lynch had never said to her and she took exception with the idea that Lynch and the rest of the Four Horsewomen had led the women’s evolution in WWE.

Trish Stratus claimed that Lita believed in Lynch and ended up being her sidekick – despite Lita and Lynch holding the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title together. Stratus says she took out Lita to put her “out of her misery” and make it clear that she was the one who cost Lynch her title.
