Triple H Breaks Silence On WWE Hall Of Famer’s Surprise RAW Return

WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio made a surprise return on WWE Raw.

The Master of 619 had been absent from WWE television since late January because of serious injuries. He had suffered bilateral fractured ribs (broken on both his left and right sides) during his singles match against The Vision’s Austin Theory on the January 26, 2026, episode of Monday Night Raw.

Despite the injury, he competed in the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble on January 31. However, he lasted less than three minutes before being eliminated by Oba Femi. Following his Rumble appearance, he was removed from television to recover from his injuries.

Rey Mysterio Will Wrestle At WWE WrestleMania 42

Rey Mysterio made his surprise return on the April 6, 2026, episode of Monday Night Raw and announced his entry into the Intercontinental Championship ladder match at WrestleMania 42.

He is now the sixth and final entrant in the multi-man ladder match, which also features the Intercontinental Champion Penta, Dragon Lee, JD McDonagh, Je’Von Evans, and Rusev.

Following Raw, Triple H logged on to his X/Twitter account to officially announce Rey Mysterio’s participation in the Intercontinental Championship ladder match at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.

HHH tweeted, “… and then there were six. Just when you thought this match couldn’t get anymore HOLYS*** WWE Hall of Famer @reymysterio
is going to #WrestleMania!”

Rey Mysterio was originally rumored to have a singles match against Gunther. However, due to the uncertainty of his WrestleMania 42 status, WWE had to pivot and book The Ring General to face Seth Rollins in a singles match at WrestleMania 42.

The WWE Hall of Famer has been a regular on the WrestleMania match card for the past few years, except last year. He was scheduled to face El Grande Americano at WrestleMania 41. However, due to a legitimate groin injury and a busted eardrum, Rey Fenix was introduced as his replacement for the match.
