Triple H’s Instructions Left Shane McMahon “Pi**ed” At Stephanie McMahon
Stephanie McMahon recalled a time when Triple H told her to slap her brother Shane McMahon, who wasn’t happy about it.
At the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, the legendary Stephanie McMahon was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the company that her family built.
On a recent episode of Stephanie McMahon’s “What’s Your Story?” podcast, her husband, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, asked her the questions.
During the podcast, they spoke about how Stephanie slapping people became her thing in WWE. That led to a moment on WWE TV when Stephanie slapped her husband, Triple H, her father, Vince McMahon, and even her brother, Shane McMahon, who was shocked by it. It was in 2000 that Hunter and Stephanie were a married couple on WWE television, even though they didn’t actually marry until three years later.
Triple H: “The time she’s talking about with Shane, there’s like this argument going on with all of us, and I don’t remember who she was supposed to…I think she was supposed to slap Shane first or something. And then…”
Stephanie: “No. I wasn’t supposed to slap anybody. I remember specifically because I was surprised when you told me to slap him. Because I was like, ‘Do you really want me to slap him?’ And you were like, ‘F**king slap Shane.’ And then I turned around and I slapped Shane. (Laughs) And he was pi**ed. I see him look at me like, mad, and then he goes: ‘Why’d you do that?’ And I said: ‘Hunter told me. Hunter told me to do it.’ He goes: ‘Well, you slap him then.'”
A video played from Raw showing Stephanie slapping Vince, Hunter, and Shane in the ring, but Stephanie said they showed the wrong one.
Triple H recalled that it became a Stephanie slap fest, and Stephanie talked about how she was just “slapping the s**t” out of everybody.
“WWE Is My World” – Stephanie McMahon
On the same podcast, Stephanie McMahon talked about spending her life in WWE and how honored she was to be in the Hall of Fame.
“My God, it feels — it’s such an honor. And I’m so grateful. It’s the biggest, I never, ever imagined it. And it’s just the biggest thing ever in my career. And, you know, I’m really proud.”
Triple H went on to talk about how Stephanie felt like maybe she wasn’t worthy of a WWE Hall of Fame induction. Stephanie went on to explain her feelings now.
“Well, I don’t know that worthy is a word I would use. But like I definitely am accepting and I’m in such a great place and I’m so excited and I’m just so grateful. You know, that’s the thing. It’s like, no matter what happens in WWE moving forward, this has been my life.
And I’m so grateful to have had this remarkable, incredible life surrounded by these characters and people who are probably the most honest sort of truthful versions of themselves, right? Because when you’re on the road with people and I don’t know, I love our community.”
As she continued, Stephanie made the point that WWE is her life.
“So to have had all of this, you know, this is my world. WWE is my actual world and always has been.”
