Triple H Broke Major Rule With Recent WWE Release
The recent WWE releases upset many fans and involved Triple H breaking a rule regarding a certain talent.
There were over 20 WWE superstars released by the company on Friday, just hours before SmackDown took place that night. Some of the wrestlers even competed in matches on television over the last few weeks, but the company decided it was time to let them go. The list of names was as follows:
* Bo Dallas/Uncle Howdy
* Joe Gacy
* Erick Rowan
* Dexter Lumis
* Nikki Cross
* Alba Fyre
* Zoey Stark
* Alex Shelley of the Motor City Machine Guns
* Chris Sabin of the Motor City Machine Guns
* Santos Escobar
* Aleister Black
* Zelina
* Kairi Sane
* Apollo Crews
* Andre Chase from NXT
* Dante Chen from NXT
Several more names from NXT were released: Malik Blake, Luca Crusifino, Tyson, Tyriek, Chris Island, Tyra Mae Steele, Sirena Linton, and Trill London.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, the people who decide on the releases are WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who also oversees talent relations. In addition to Triple H, WWE President Nick Khan likely plays a role, but Meltzer doubts that TKO leadership, such as Ari Emanuel and Mark Shapiro, is making those kinds of decisions.
“Nobody above Levesque is saying who to cut. Maybe [WWE President] Nick Khan, maybe not. Ari Emanuel isn’t sitting there saying we have to fire Zelina [Vega] and Kairi. By and large the decision maker, for good or for bad, here is Paul. It’s like in other years where people blamed this person or that person when the decision was 100 percent Vince [McMahon].”
There’s not a chance TKO is ordering who to cut. It is possible they’ve got an unofficial salary cap and Levesque as the manager has to keep the number below that. Most likely the salary total would be a Khan decision, and as far as the key in the personnel decision, that’s Levesque although Khan having input and others having input is likely. It’s like Vince would consult with a few people but at the end, it was Vince’s call, not evil Jim Ross or evil Johnny Ace or evil JJ Dillon.”
Triple H And WWE Executives Releasing An Injured Wrestler Used To Be Against Policy
The comments from Meltzer were also backed by Fightful Select, who noted that Triple H, Nick Khan and WWE Talent Relations likely made the decisions on who to release.
In an interesting note from Fightful, it was noted that Santos Escobar was re-signed by WWE last year, but he was never used on the main roster and was instead put in AAA. Escobar is dealing with an injury and will be out for months, yet WWE still felt the need to release him. Fightful mentioned that in the past, this was against company policy, but it has happened in the last few years to the likes of Karl Anderson, BJ Ray, and Ridge Holland, all of whom were let go while injured.
Zoey Stark has been injured since May 2025 after suffering a serious knee injury in a match on Raw, but she was recently cleared to return, and WWE still released her. ‘
Triple H and WWE have not publicly commented on the releases.
