A new report suggests that this major title match at WrestleMania 42 could end with the two competitors having switched roles.

The WWE United States Championship feud has been heating up over the past couple of weeks after Sami Zayn won the title from Carmelo Hayes following a botched interference from Trick Williams.

Williams, who Nick Aldis already told would be featuring in a match at WrestleMania 42, could celebrate even more after that match later became Trick Williams vs Sami Zayn for the United States Championship.

Williams, who is supposed to be the heel in this feud, is currently getting heavily cheered by WWE fans, and Zayn, the babyface, is getting mixed reactions but is being booed by the majority.

This sudden change in crowd reactions is forcing WWE creative to think of a double turn at WrestleMania 42, which would see Williams leave as the face and Zayn as the heel.

Double turns have historically taken place at WrestleManias, a noteworthy one being Stone Cold Steve Austin and Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13, where the two had swapped roles by the end of their iconic bout.

Things could very well go in that direction for Sami Zayn and Trick Williams, especially after Zayn began to abandon a section of his fanbase during his latest promo on SmackDown, saying that they weren’t supporting him despite him putting his heart and soul into giving them what they want.

Williams, on the other hand, is being cheered likely due to his natural charisma, entertainment factor, and overall appeal. A new report from Bodyslam cements this idea further.

There Could Be A Double Turn Between Sami Zayn And Trick Williams at WWE WrestleMania 42

According to Bodyslam.net, Triple H and Co at WWE Creative have discussed this idea of a double turn with the latest fan reactions against Zayn, pointing towards a heel turn, and loud pops for Trick Williams, pointing towards a babyface turn.

WWE has discussed the idea of doing double turn with Zayn and Williams at WrestleMania due to Zayn having go home heat and Williams getting louder crowd reactions as the weeks go by.

Williams became part of WWE’s main roster earlier this year after being promoted from NXT. The 31-year-old star is becoming a hot talent in the company and even has a famous musician, rapper Lil Yachty, by his side in his feud against Zayn.

Williams won his latest bout on SmackDown, which was against Matt Cardona in this past Friday’s episode. Lil Yachty tried to get involved by tripping Zayn off the apron during an attempted interference from the latter, but received a thunderous Helluva Kick from Zayn moments later.

The two will face each other in Night 2 of the Showcase of the Immortals that takes place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 18th and 19th.
