WWE announced the return of the King and Queen of the Ring tournament last night at the post-show press conference of Clash in Italy. All first-round matches of both tournaments were announced last night.

The tournament officially kicked off tonight on WWE RAW when Oba Femi defeated Solo Sikoa, Carmelo Hayes, and the Intercontinental Champion, Penta, in the opening match of the night.

After the KOTR began in the opening match of the show, the Queen of the Ring also kicked off later in the night. Like the men’s first-round matches, the QOTR also had all fatal-four-way first-round matches.

The match featured some very exciting names as IYO SKY took on Giulia, Roxanne Perez, and Lash Legend. The match was extremely high-paced and saw some high-flying action.

IYO SKY advances to the next round of WWE QOTR

Lash seemed to dominate the match for much of the duration, but faced constant threat from the others. She hit a couple of Lash Extensions on both Giulia and Perez, and went for the pin.

However, IYO hit a double foot stomp from the top rope onto Lash and broke the pin. Following that, SKY went back to the top rope and hit the Over-the-Moonsault on Giulia and pinned her to advance to the next round.

Giulia, being half-Italian through her father, suffered a huge loss in her hometown. With this match, Triple H brought back Vince McMahon’s tradition of making the hometown star lose, after seemingly doing away with it on SmackDown last week.
