Triple H Breaks Silence On Major Title Change At WWE WrestleMania 42

A major title changed hands on Night Two of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.

Trick Williams has seen a meteoric rise since joining the main roster in January. On WrestleMania Sunday, he walked into Allegiant Stadium to challenge Sami Zayn for the United States Championship.

The road to that moment was packed, and in those four months on SmackDown, Williams racked up wins over Jacob Fatu, Rey Fenix, Matt Cardona, Damian Priest, and even his former NXT tag partner, Carmelo Hayes. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis rewarded that run by making the WrestleMania title match official.

Trick arrived at The Show of Shows, with Lil Yachty by his side. The match itself was competitive but efficient. Sami Zayn had the upper hand early, landing an apron brainbuster and setting up for a Helluva Kick, but Lil Yachty’s ringside interference disrupted the champion’s momentum at the critical moment. Williams seized the opening, hit the Trick Shot, and pinned Zayn to become the new United States Champion in his WrestleMania debut.

Triple H sent a message to Trick Williams following his win at WrestleMania

Triple H was quick to react to the win soon after the show. The WWE CCO posted a photo on X alongside Williams and in the caption referenced Williams’ signature white boots, Lemon Pepper Steppers.

After the match, the moment clearly hit Trick, and he got emotional while talking about his mother, who had knee replacement surgery just a month ago. He shared how she worked every day on her recovery just so she could be there to watch him at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Although heading as heel, at WrestleMania, the fans cheered heavily for Trick Williams and booed Sami Zayn. It will be interesting to see who Trick Williams’ first challenger will be or whether he will have a rematch against Sami Zayn.
