It’s Over! Top AEW Star Finally Dethroned For The World Title
A top AEW superstar’s world title run has ended after 112 days.
On Friday, Claudio Castagnoli was scheduled to defend his CMLL World Heavyweight Championship against Hechiecro during the taping of Homenaje A Dos Leyendas 2026 in Mexico City.
The Swiss superstar won the title from Gran Guerrero in late November 2025, ending the latter’s three-year title reign.
Since then, Castagnoli has made a handful of appearances in the Mexican promotion, securing victories over the likes of Ultimo Guerrero, Xelhua, Akuma, and Euforia in title matches.
His opponent on Friday was Hechicero, who currently has a double contract and competes in AEW as well, while being a member of the Don Callis Family.
In the closing minutes, the masked luchador applied a submission on the champion, stretching his left arm, forcing him to submit for a title change.

Toni Storm Out Of AEW For The Remainder Of 2026
AEW suffered a massive blow as “Timeless” Toni Storm was recently ruled out for the remainder of the year due to an injury.
Following Storm’s victory over Marina Shafir at Revolution, both superstars were scheduled to compete in a No Holds Barred match on the subsequent Dynamite episode.
However, Storm was taken out by a mystery person backstage, showing her lying motionless, with blood dripping from the back of her head. Her Timeless Love Bombs partner, Mina Shirakawa, took her place, even securing a shocking victory over Shafir.
AEW has not yet revealed the nature of Storm’s injury, with some reports even claiming that she could be pregnant. The 30-year-old has been married to Juice Robinson since 2022.
