Tony Khan Responds To Criticism Of AEW Lacking Storylines

AEW Tony Khan

AEW President Tony Khan has hit back at recent criticism from fans about his product, even labelling some of the comments as fake.

It would seem Tony Khan is ready to go on the offense when people are critical of his product, something which he has every reason to be protective of. Lately, some of the criticism has surrounded there being no build to certain matches.

In a recent discussion with Fightful, Tony Khan spoke of the criticism and why he doesn’t feel it is deserved.

Wrestling fans are amazing people, but, I think in some ways… some wrestling fans are like ‘Why is this match happening? They shouldn’t do this match. There’s no build.’ Maybe it’s the start of something. How do you know?

One specific example the AEW head honcho gave was for the recent contest between Jon Moxley and Daniel Garcia prior to the Battle Royale on Rampage.

Well, first of all, both are going to be in this match. Maybe there’s gonna be something there on Friday, so we have already told you there’s something else. I saw someone say this match is unnecessary. What does that even mean? You say it’s not a way for people to watch TV anymore because every match has to have some kind of story to get into it. Well, what about the story that everyone wants to be the best? That’s how most sports are, and there are storylines going into games and matches.

Khan went on to discuss the fake criticism of storylines on his show.

Tony Khan also opened up on how it felt when Cody Rhodes left AEW.
