AEW President Tony Khan has given some details on the title opportunity MJF has in his possession, and how his exchange of the poker chip could be different to those in the past.

Whilst there had been plenty of speculation as to when MJF would make his return to AEW, as All Out panned out there was no complete confirmation that ‘The Salt Of The Earth’ had returned until right at the end.

During the Casino Ladder Match, everyone expected the mystery joker participant to come to the ring, but instead multiple masked men attacked the competitors before allowing one final man to climb the ladder and collect the poker chip.

After the main event which saw CM Punk win the AEW Championship, MJF revealed himself to be the mystery man and made it clear that he would be after a future title opportunity.

Past winners of the poker chip have confirmed when they will take their opportunity before the match happens. However, in a discussion with Barstool Sports Tony Khan has indicated that this may not be the case with the multiple-time Dynamite Diamond Ring winner.

I think any time, any sanctioned event we can certainly make it happen. In this day and age, it’s a world that’s uh, with live television and pay-per-view events, and all [of these other] opportunities, it’s exciting to have a contender out there looming and to have this big championship match tonight on Dynamite.

Certainly, it’s that much more interesting to have two of the best wrestlers in the world, Bryan Danielson versus Jon Moxley one on one for the world championship, and to have a great wrestler like MJF looming in the background as a top contender with the right to challenge for the title any time. It’s a very interesting championship picture right now in AEW.

If MJF is to challenge for the title, it will now be against Jon Moxley who won the tournament final against Bryan Danielson at Dynamite: Grand Slam to win the belt for a third time.
