Tony Khan Attacked On AEW Dynamite (VIDEO)

Tony Khan AEW

Tony Khan was attacked in the main event of AEW Dynamite and that led to his father checking on his son.

All Elite Wrestling was back home in Jacksonville for the first Dynamite episode following the Dynasty pay-per-view. Early in the television broadcast, The Elite’s Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, and Kazuchika Okada were joined by their buddy “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry, who was back on Dynamite for the first time in about eight months.

During the show, The Elite group met with AEW’s Owner & CEO Tony Khan behind closed doors. Matthew Jackson would later reveal that Jack Perry would talk to Tony in the middle of the ring.

In the main event segment of Dynamite, Perry was in the ring where he called out Tony Khan to join him. Jack admitted they have had ups and downs, but he swears to God that all he’s ever wanted is what’s best for AEW. Tony applauded that. Jack asked Tony to shake his hand, reinstate Jack and then they could go on to continue to change the world together. Tony shook Jack’s hand and they hugged with Jack smiling for the camera.

It looked like everything was fine, but then Jack Perry punched Tony Khan in the ribs with the microphone. The Elite’s Young Bucks and Kazuchika Okada went down to the ring to try to calm Jack down. The Young Bucks picked up Tony teasing the EVP Trigger, but then Okada pointed up. Matt Jackson held Tony in a Tombstone position and Nick jumped off the top for the Meltzer Driver spiked piledriver on Tony Khan.

This led to referee Bryce Remsburg and other referees checking on Tony. Matt thanked Jacksonville and said The Elite loved them. Some fans were chanting “Whoop That Trick” during this. The Elite posed on the stage as the fans booed them.

The camera focused on a fallen Tony Khan in the ring. The locker room emptied out with wrestlers checking on the boss. Even Tony’s billionaire dad Shad Khan, who funded AEW for his son, arrived to check on Tony at the end. That’s how Dynamite ended.

While Tony Khan has appeared on AEW television over the last five years, this is the first time where he was in the ring taking bumps as part of an angle.

Tony Khan Wants To Add More Big Names To AEW Roster

The year 2024 has been a big one for AEW so far thanks to Tony Khan signing big-name wrestlers to the promotion like Kazuchika Okada, Mercedes Mone, and Will Ospreay. It was recently reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer that Tony Khan wants to sign more big names to AEW.

“I know that AEW is looking at people whose contracts are up. Whether they get anyone I don’t know, but they’re definitely looking. You know, sometimes you think that they made this big, big investment with Okada, Ospreay and Mercedes and maybe they’re not looking for other people. But they still are.”

As for what’s next, the NFL Draft starts on Thursday night. Tony’s father Shad Khan owns the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars and Tony Khan works for the team as well. It will be interesting to see if Tony is wearing a neckbrace to sell the Dynamite attack because he certainly be shown on television during the draft.
