The Miz Makes Bold Claim About Modern WWE

The Miz WWE Hall of Fame

The Miz believes WWE is still riding the crest of a wave.

WWE’s creative received a boost following the departure of Vince McMahon, as Triple H and a major feel-good factor took over.

This run saw The Rock make his long-awaited return to the ring, CM Punk’s return to the company, even more focus put on the women’s division, and, of course, Cody Rhodes finally finishing the story. But while some feel that ‘new booker shine’ has worn off, not everyone agrees.

During an interview with The Schmo, The Miz said that modern WWE has now surpassed the much-discussed Attitude Era of the late 1990s and early 2000s. The veteran pointed to the record-breaking success of WrestleMania year on year as proof of his claims.

“Last year was a record-breaking year. It’s the biggest WrestleMania we’ve ever had. I’ll say this time and time again, there was an Attitude Era. This is bigger than the Attitude Era.

The storylines are bigger than they’ve ever been. The stars, our roster is deeper than it’s ever been, whether you’re cheering someone or booing someone. WWE always finds a way to do better the next year.

As best as you could possibly do, which I think we did amazingly last year here at Allegiant Stadium, it’s going to be nothing compared to what happens at WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium.”

The Miz Feels Overlooked

Speaking elsewhere, The Miz admitted he was “very angry” at missing out on a match with John Cena. Miz said that when he heard the news that Cena would be facing AJ Styles at Crown Jewel, he was happy for the Phenomenal One, but angry at being overlooked.

The former World Champion went on to say that, as one of the few people to hold a WrestleMania main event victory over Cena, he felt he deserved one more match.

On September 25, AJ Styles also announced his plan to retire. Styles said that while an appearance at WrestleMania 42 is far from a certainty, he’d like to compete at the event one more time before hanging up his boots.
