The Demon Finn Balor’s 7-Year Streak Finally Ends At WWE WrestleMania 42
Finn Balor returned as his famed character, The Demon, to face Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 42.
Among all the feuds at WrestleMania 42, this feud was one of the most personal. Finn Balor seemingly cost Dominik Mysterio his Intercontinental Championship when he refused to help Dirty Dom retain the title illegally against Penta some weeks ago on Raw.
Dirty Dom lost the match and the IC Title and blamed Balor for it. The two got involved in a heated feud with Balor being ousted from his old faction, The Judgement Day, by Mysterio and his factionmates.
The AAA Mega Champion made a grand entrance at WrestleMania 42 to face Balor, who returned to his Demon gimmick for the night, one he had retired a few years ago.
The Demon Emerges Victorious At WrestleMania 42 Against Dirty Dom
The match was announced as a street fight at the last minute, as ordered by Raw General Manager Adam Pearce.
Mysterio got some early offence in and took advantage of the Demon.
Just when many thought that there would be a major upset, the Demon rose and delivered a thunderous dropkick to Dom, who was caught in a steel chair. He then landed the Coup De Gras on Mysterio through a table and pinned him for the win.
Finn Balor last won a match with this persona at Super ShowDown in June 2019, where he defeated Andrade. Following that, his Demon persona lost to Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules 2021 and to Edge at WrestleMania 39.
