Unbelievable!!! Penta Retains IC Title In Magnificent Six-Man Ladder Match At WWE WrestleMania 42
The WWE Intercontinental Championship was on the line at WrestleMania 42, where the Champion Penta was up against JD McDonagh, Rusev, Je’Von Evans, Dragon Lee, and WWE legend Rey Mysterio.
The match was announced a few weeks prior and saw qualifying bouts to determine the challengers for the title.
Penta won the IC Title from Dominik Mysterio a few weeks ago, and in the go-home episode of Raw before ‘Mania, the competitors of the ladder match were seen in the ring brawling it out with Rusev dominating almost everyone towards the end.
The action began even as the Champion Penta was making his way to the ring.
Exciting High-Flying Six-Man Ladder Match Ends With Penta Retaining Gold
The match saw some epic high-risk moves courtesy of the three luchadors and Je’Von Evans. Their moves were balanced out by JD McDonagh and Rusev, who have a more direct, strength-based approach.
All the wrestlers involved took a shot at climbing the ladder, but were thwarted magnificently by the others. The match featured spots involving ladders, with wrestlers being put through them; notably, Rey Mysterio executed a west coast pop on Rusev onto the ladder, and Penta executed a Mexican Destroyer on JD McDonagh onto the ladder.
Je’Von Evans shocked the crowd with a devastating OG cutter on Rusev, who was on his way up the ladder. However, the exhilarating contest ended with Penta getting a Mexican Destroyer on Evans and climbing to grab the belt and retain gold.
