Things are looking down for Tama Tonga.

The member of the MFT suffered multiple setbacks, all inside one week. On March 20, Tama teamed up with his stablemate JC Mateo to defend the WWE Tag Team Championship against Damian Priest and R-Truth.

Despite winning the titles from The Wyatt Sicks on January 23, 2026, it was their first title defense; more so, they defended it under the Freebird rule, with Mateo replacing the faction’s leader, Solo Sikoa, in their match.

The momentum seemed to slip out of Priest and Truth’s hands when other members of My Family Tree interfered in the match.

However, The Wyatt Sicks, too, made their presence felt by the ringside, chasing away MFT members, and Uncle Howdy neutralizing Sikoa with the Mandible Claw.

Truth then hit the Attitude Adjustment on Mateo to win the tag titles with Priest for the first time. In a backstage segment later, Tama Tonga and JC Mateo received a dressing-down from Sikoa.

Tama Tonga Reacts To WWE’s Fine

Earlier in the week, Tama Tonga was in the news for sharing a rehearsal video on his Instagram story.

The video showed an empty arena, with several WWE superstars and higher-ups, including Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Triple H, planning Orton’s attack on Rhodes in last week’s SmackDown main event.

Andrew Zarian of Mat Men later revealed that the 43-year-old star received a hefty fine for breaking the company’s unwritten rule about posting during rehearsal.

Tonga posted the grimacing face emoji on X to sum up his reaction to the fine.

Fans who had been following the controversy understood the reference. In the comments section, some of them even called out the company for the WWE: Unreal docuseries while barring wrestlers from posting BTS videos.
