AJ Styles has announced that he will retire sometime in 2026.

After John Cena’s Farewell Tour in 2025, fans have wondered whether The Phenomenal One would get a similar tour before his retirement.

So far, that does not seem to be the situation.

WWE is not sure about AJ Styles’ retirement plans

On Fightful Select, WrestleVotes reported that the Stamford-based promotion was not sure about what AJ Styles’ retirement would be like. The company is divided on how The Phenomenal One’s retirement should be mapped, and whether it should be firm or remain flexible.

Since Styles has already said he will retire in 2026 and his Royal Rumble match is against Gunther, the WWE Universe has questioned whether or not this is his final match. The stipulation is that if The Phenomenal One loses the match against The Ring General, his career is over.

On the other hand, The Phenomenal One even had a World Heavyweight Championship match against CM Punk on WWE RAW. The match ended in No Contest due to Finn Balor’s interference.

It seems that WWE is gently wrapping up storylines for the former champion.
