Why NFL’s Super Bowl Caused Seth Rollins To Apologize To Former WWE Champion
Seth Rollins admits he apologized to a former WWE Champion for something unrelated to wrestling.
The former 6-time WWE World Champion Seth Rollins has been out of action since October 2025 due to suffering a shoulder injury at Crown Jewel. Rollins landed hard on his left shoulder while doing a Coast-to-Coast headbutt on Cody Rhodes, and the injury led to Rollins having shoulder surgery.
Recovery is going well for “The Visionary” Rollins, who is expected to be ready for an in-ring return by WrestleMania 42 on April 18-19.
During his time away from WWE, Rollins has been appearing as a regular co-host on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, which Rollins planned on doing during the NFL season, even if he wasn’t injured.
Due to Seth’s NFL connections, he attended Super Bowl 60 on Sunday in Santa Clara, California (home of the San Francisco 49ers) with his wife, WWE superstar Becky Lynch. Since Rollins had another ticket, he reached out to former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston, who is a fan of the New England Patriots. Unfortunately for Kingston and Patriots, the Seattle Seahawks crushed them in the Super Bowl by a score of 29-13.
On social media, Kofi Kingston thanked his good friend Rollins for the Super Bowl invitation, even though it was not the outcome that Kingston wanted.
Wish the result was different, but I have to thank Seth & Becky for making this possible. Watching your team play in the Super Bowl is such a rare experience & I’m beyond grateful for their thoughtfulness. BIG Salute to the Cap’n & The Man! 🫡
I am forever indebted…

The New England Patriots are tied for the most Super Bowl wins in NFL history, with 6, but they also have the most losses, at 6.
Seth Rollins Apologized To Kofi Kingston After What Happened At The Super Bowl
During a Monday morning appearance on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, Seth Rollins had a bit of a tongue-in-cheek apology for his pal, Kofi Kingston, who had to witness the Patriots getting blown out in the Super Bowl.
“I had an extra ticket last night – and I apologize to all my Patriots fan friends out there – I gave it to Kofi Kingston, who is like my longest tenured Patriots fan (friend). And by the end of the game, I had to apologize to him (laughing).”
When Seth Rollins was asked why he was apologizing to Kingston, he laughed about it and continued.
“Because I thought I was doing a nice thing.”
The co-hosts said that what Seth Rollins did was a great thing. Rollins recalled what Kingston said to him.
“It did not go well for him. He was like, ‘Is this a rib?’ I’m like, ‘Bro, I didn’t think it was going to be that bad.'”
A “rib” in the pro wrestling world is a joke. However, some fans who watched the Super Bowl might say it was a joke considering how dominant Seattle was in beating New England all night long. As Kofi Kingston found out, the result of a sporting event doesn’t always go the way you want.
