Sammy Guevara Leaving AEW? Tony Khan Reveals Truth
There has been a lot of speculation about Sammy Guevara. Tony Khan has finally revealed the truth.
Sammy Guevara has been with AEW since the company’s inception in 2019. He was a regular feature on TV as part of the Inner Circle.
This also helped Sammy get over with the fans. At one point, he was one of the most promising stars in the company. Sammy continued to be heavily featured on Dynamite during the promotion’s early days. He even held the TNT Championship. However, he has been spending most of his time in CMLL and ROH in recent months. His last match on AEW Dynamite took place in January of this year, and his previous Collision match took place in June. Sammy recently made headlines after he posted on social media that he has a new bio. When fans checked his bio, they didn’t see the word AEW in there, which prompted many to believe that perhaps he is done with the company and could be leaving when his contract expires. These rumors come at a time when it was recently reported that Sammy’s wife, Tay Melo, requested her AEW release last year and was denied her request.
Tony Khan confirms that Sammy Guevara is happy in AEW
During the recent AEW Redemption media call, Tony Khan was asked about Sammy Guevara’s status. The AEW boss said that he received a nice message from the former TNT Champion saying that he wasn’t trying to do anything bad and that he loves the Jacksonville-based promotion.
“I got a nice message from Sammy saying he wasn’t trying to do anything bad and that he loves AEW, and I believe that. And Sammy has been a good wrestler for us in AEW.”
Tony Khan dismissed speculation about Sammy Guevara’s AEW future, stressing that “nothing has changed” and that Guevara “has done well.” Khan pointed out that Sammy is “wrestling in Ring of Honor more often,” has “done some good things in AEW,” and remains “one-half of the ROH… pic.twitter.com/FU1B7G7bYB
