Sad Update On AJ Lee’s WWE Future

A latest report provided a heartbreaking update on AJ Lee’s future in the WWE amid her hiatus.

AJ Lee first joined the WWE back in 2010 and went on to become one of the most influential female stars in the company’s history. A decade after her departure in 2015, Lee made her blockbuster return to the Stamford-based promotion last year. At the WrestlePalooza PLE last year, AJ made her in-ring return with a mixed tag match, teaming with her husband, CM Punk, to register a win over the team of Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch.

AJ Lee also competed in the War Games match last year and continued her feud with Becky Lynch, capturing the women’s Intercontinental title at Elimination Chamber. At WrestleMania 42, Lee lost the women’s I.C title back to Becky and has not been on TV since then.

While fans anticipate her return to the ring, the latest report from WrestleVotes on Fightful Select provided an update on Lee’s status. According to the report, AJ Lee is not returning to the WWE anytime soon.

AJ Lee was rumored to return to the WWE for a SummerSlam program

After AJ Lee’s match at WrestleMania 42, WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select had reported that Lee has finished up her current WWE run, and it would be a while before she is back again:

According to sources, AJ Lee has wrapped up her current run with the company and as of now isn’t scheduled for anything in the near future. We’re told her return isn’t officially considered over, but there is some caution that it could be a while before we see her back in action again.”

The report also stated that a source is hopeful that a SummerSlam program could materialize for AJ Lee, but there are no details of that possibility:

One source did speculate they’re hopeful a SummerSlam program materializes, although no further details were available regarding the possibility of this at that time.”

The report concluded that Lee’s return isn’t coming up anytime soon after her loss to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 42:

So she has come in, returned, wrestled a few matches mainly with Becky Lynch, takes a loss at WrestleMania and now, according to a source, isn’t coming up anytime soon.”

Fans will have to wait and see when AJ Lee will be back on WWE TV amid all the rumors and speculations.
