Royce Keys has a WWE name that comes from his family.

After making his WWE in-ring debut at the Royal Rumble in Riyadh, Royce Keys officially became a WWE superstar after using the name Powerhouse Hobbs in AEW.

As a way to introduce him to the WWE audience, Keys was a guest on Stephanie McMahon’s “What’s Your Story?” podcast as he talked about his life and career for over 1 hour and 40 minutes.

During the podcast, Royce Keys revealed that he has three kids aged 20, 8, and 5 (two boys and a girl). Keys talked about how the kids all have different personalities, but he loves it, and he wouldn’t trade being a dad for anything.

Keys: “Royce is my middle son.”

Stephanie: “Who you are named after in WWE.”

Keys: “Yes. My dedication to him. We are both Aquarius’s and we go like this (butt heads) all the time.”

Royce also talked about how his daughter reminds him of his grandma Evelyn, who helped raise him.

It has been reported that the “Keys” part of Royce’s name is his mother’s maiden name. Royce spoke on the podcast about his grandparents, who helped raise him. Clearly, he values his family a lot.

Royce Keys’ Brother Was Murdered While Saving Royce

While there were many laughs on the podcast as Keys talked about his life, there was also a very sad story. That story involved his brother, as Keys revealed that his brother died while trying to save him.

“My brother was a big drug dealer. He lost his life saving me. It was one of those things – I don’t know if I should say it was meant to happen – but if you play a certain game, you win certain prizes.

He sacrificed himself to save me. I still replay it in my head – seeing him laying there, gasping for air, blood coming out of him – and you don’t even know what you’re supposed to feel in that moment. It was someone just trying to get by, and he lost his life.”

As he continued, Royce Keys admitted he felt guilty about his brother’s death, but he admitted his brother’s sacrifice helped him.

There are certain things I hear that remind me of him. I felt guilty for so many years. I felt guilty for wanting to be like him. But at the same time, if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have had certain things growing up.

Since the Royal Rumble, Keys has wrestled in dark matches, but he hasn’t had an official match on Raw or SmackDown yet.
