Roxanne Perez Calls Smackdown Debut “Surreal”

Roxanne Perez

Roxanne Perez still can’t believe that she recently made her WWE main roster debut on Smackdown.

Originally rising to stardom in Ring of Honor (ROH) under the ring name of Rok-C in 2021, Roxanne Perez then became ‘Roxanne Perez’ when she signed with World Wrestling Entertainment earlier this year in April, making her debut in NXT in the same month. Quickly, she became one of the top stars of the 2.0 brand, going on to win the Women’s Breakout Tournament, as well as having a stint as NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion with Cora Jade.

However, Jade would turn hell on Perez, and the two would have a heated rivalry as the aftereffect. During their feud, they came upon an agreement that they would pick an opponent for each other to face off against, and this would lead Perez to Smackdown for her main roster debut — both via promo and in the ring. During the October 14, 2022 episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown, she would pair up with Raquel Rodriguez and Shotzi in a trios match, however, would suffer defeat to Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai and IYO SKY).

Roxanne Perez would recently make an appearance on El Brunch de WWE, where she talked about her Smackdown appearance and how it was surreal, and also nothing that it was the very first live World Wrestling Entertainment show she’s ever been to in her entire life.

“That was very surreal. SmackDown was actually the first live WWE show that my dad took me to, so I was maybe like 11, and he surprised me. He’s like come on, we’re going somewhere. I was like, where are we going? We get to the arena, and I walk in, and they have all the WWE merch, and I was like, we’re at a WWE show, and it was SmackDown.

So to have my debut on SmackDown and then be able to be in the ring with such amazing women, I actually know Raquel and Shotzi from the independent scene. Shotzi, I had a match with her once on the independent scene, and then Raquel, we never wrestled, but she was on the same show that I was in my debut, when I was 14.

Roxanne Perez closed out:

So I’ve known her for a very long time, so that was really cool to be paired up with them. Then being able to wrestle one of my childhood idols, Bayley, everything was just so perfect. It was a really full-circle moment, and my mom was there as well. She was in the crowd, and she was so happy, so yeah, that was surreal.”
