Ronda Rousey Breaks Silence On AEW Speculation

Ronda Rousey has commented on whether she wants to work for AEW following an appearance on the company’s ROH brand.

The last time Ronda Rousey appeared on WWE television was at SummerSlam 2023 when she lost a short match to her good friend Shayna Baszler. That match happened because Rousey’s WWE contract expired several weeks after the show and Rousey wanted to put over her friend before leaving WWE.

During her WWE career, Rousey was a Raw & Smackdown Women’s Champion, a Royal Rumble winner and she headlined her second WrestleMania (35) in 2019.

On November 17th, Ronda Rousey appeared at a Ring of Honor taping that took place in Los Angeles, which is where she lives. They also had episodes of Rampage and Collision that night. In her lone ROH match, Rousey teamed up with Marina Shafir to defeat Athena & Billie Starkz in a tag team match. That match aired on the November 23rd episode of ROH TV.

Rousey has also appeared at some independent wrestling shows in the LA area including Wrestling Revolver.

TMZ spoke to Ronda Rousey recently to ask the UFC Hall of Famer if she wanted to join AEW on a more regular basis.

“No, no. I don’t think so. Just, you know, trying to be home with the family and be a full-time mom.”

Ronda Rousey and her husband Travis Browne have a daughter who was born in September 2021. Browne also has children from a previous relationship as well.

AEW Put Ronda Rousey On ROH For A Specific Reason

Many fans wondered why AEW would put a major star like Ronda Rousey on a lesser-watched show like Ring of Honor instead of one of the three AEW TV shows. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that it was a decision made by AEW’s Owner Tony Khan.

“As far as why it was on ROH on Honor Club and not put on Dynamite, Collision or Rampage, that was Tony Khan’s call. Rousey did indicate not wanting to do any big shows, just local shows for fun, and did the ROH match politically because Khan was going to let his talent do such a big show in Los Angeles when they had three shows in the market the same week.”

“Khan may have suggested ROH rather than television because she said she didn’t want to do a major show.”
