Ronda Rousey Drops A Bombshell About Becky Lynch WWE Feud
Ronda Rousey has revealed more about her WWE rivalry with Becky Lynch and what could have happened between the two superstars.
When Ronda Rousey was in her first WWE run from January 2018 until the main event of WrestleMania 35 in April 2019, her rivalry with Becky Lynch was a huge success.
The WWE Universe was clamoring to see their hero, Lynch, shut up the cocky Raw Women’s Champion Rousey in a singles match. That singles match never happened because WWE went with a triple threat match at WrestleMania 35 with Charlotte Flair also involved.
While Lynch did pin Rousey in the main event of WrestleMania 35 to win the Raw & SmackDown Women’s Title in the same match, it was a bit anticlimactic since Rousey’s shoulders weren’t even down for a three count, and there was no follow-up because Rousey left WWE.
When Ronda Rousey returned to WWE in January 2022 to win the Royal Rumble several months after giving birth, many fans likely wanted to see a match with Lynch at some point. However, that didn’t happen at all during Rousey’s second run that lasted until August 2023.
Ronda Rousey did an interview with The Takedown on SI where she revealed that she pitched a singles feud with Lynch, the WWE bosses liked it, and then never did it.
“After WrestleMania, I literally printed out a whole presentation for them, for me and Becky — the singles match. How we would do it, how we would plan it out and rehearse these things and have them woven throughout the show.
To do something really exceptional and new. And then Vince (McMahon) and them were like, ‘oh yeah, this is a great idea, this is great.’ Then I went and had my baby, I came back, and they were like, well, we talked about that a year ago.”
As she continued, Ronda Rousey talked more about her plan for a match with Lynch.
“They said, ‘We love this plan, it’s an epic showdown with you and Becky that’s going to build all year.’ I wanted to make basically a final showdown of me and Becky woven throughout the entirety of the show.
It would summarize the entire rivalry for anyone watching it for the first time. Someone could watch it and not need to watch everything that came beforehand. It would sum it up and then deliver the ending. I thought it was f**king incredible and it was why I came back.”
Ronda Rousey Didn’t Like Her Second Stint In WWE
Regarding Ronda Rousey’s two stints in WWE (before and after having a baby), it’s clear that Rousey liked her first run better. Rousey bashed WWE heavily while talking about her second run in a recent interview.
“The second run, Vince was just more far gone and more difficult to work with. There was a lot of inner turmoil going on in the company. It was kind of a sh*t show and nobody ever knew what was going on. You would get to the arena and you would be made to do something that somebody threw in your lap that hadn’t thought about it until 15 minutes before.”
Everything was super last minute and not well thought out, and there was no communication, no back and forth. Any attempt to collaborate felt like we were trying to negotiate something as opposed to partnering together to make something great.”
I love being out there in the ring and doing it, but the process was just such a clusterf*ck sh*t show that it was so much more anxiety than it was worth. I just look back at it and I just remember the anxiety of not knowing what was going on and then at the last minute, maybe we’d be able to pull it out of our ass and have a good night, and maybe not.”
Ronda Rousey left the WWE for good in the summer of 2023 and appeared on AEW without a contract earlier this year as well. Meanwhile, Ronda is set for her MMA return on May 16, as she will fight Gina Carano. It airs on Netflix.
