Roman Reigns and CM Punk went to war at WrestleMania 42 on Sunday, and it was Reigns who came out on top.

Punk suffered a loss in the match and lost his World Heavyweight Championship. However, he gained one very important thing that night, and that is, the respect of The Original Tribal Chief.

After becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania, Reigns attended the post-show panel, where he was asked if he had gained any respect for Punk following their duel on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

Roman Reigns Respects CM Punk

Despite having so much hatred for the Second City Saint, Roman Reigns acknowledged that he now respects CM Punk. Reigns stated that even with him in the ring, fans were chanting for Punk, which shows how big a superstar he truly is.

Roman added that Punk showing up and performing wholeheartedly for his fans earned him his respect. He stated that Punk holding up against him all on his own impressed him very much.

“The fact that I’m the Tribal Chief and I still hear people out here chanting for CM Punk, I have to respect that. Do I respect the man and his personal life? I don’t know. But when it comes to when he steps into the arena when the rings set up, I have a lot of respect for the man that shows up and performs for these people because he puts his heart and soul on the line.

Do we see eye to eye hell no? Are we cut from the same fabric? Hell no. But we’re part of the same fraternity, so if you can go out there and main event and put it on the line and actually hold your own. CM Punk didn’t just run his mouth he backed it up, he just ran into a better man tonight.” (H/T WrestleTalk)
