Roman Reigns Facing Sami Zayn At Upcoming WWE Live Event

Sami Zayn will get another shot at Roman Reigns at an upcoming WWE Live Event in a rematch of their Elimination Chamber classic battle.

At the WWE Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event in Montreal over a week ago, Sami Zayn challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title. While Zayn came close to winning multiple times, Reigns benefitted from two referee bumps, an assist from Jimmy Uso and Zayn accidentally hitting Jey Uso with a Spear. Reigns beat up Zayn with a steel chair and got the pinfall win to continue his 900+ day reign as the champion.

Reigns will appear this Friday on the March 3rd edition of Smackdown in Washington DC, but that won’t be his only WWE appearance on the weekend.

It has been announced by the Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto, Ontario that Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Sami Zayn in a rare live event (or house show) match for Reigns, who works a limited schedule for WWE. It is a Smackdown brand live event since the Raw brand will be in Syracuse, New York.

For Roman Reigns, it will be his first WWE live event (house show) match since September 24, 2022, when he beat AJ Styles in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The original match that was advertised for the Toronto live event was Reigns teaming up with his cousin Solo Sikoa against Zayn and Kevin Owens. However, WWE decided to change the match perhaps because Zayn and Owens have not yet reunited on television even though that’s likely coming soon.

While the Coca-Cola Coliseum tweeted about it on Monday saying it was “just announced,” it was actually advertised during the commercials on Friday’s Smackdown broadcast on Sportsnet 360 in Canada. I mentioned it on Twitter three days ago.

Roman Reigns losing the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship to Sami Zayn is very unlikely obviously since title changes at live events are rare. Looking ahead, Reigns has his next major title defense at WrestleMania 39 on April 1st or April 2nd when he defends his two championships against Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes.
