Roman Reigns’ Next Challenger Decided On SmackDown

Roman Reigns with Paul Heyman

The next challenger to Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns’ dominance was determined in a chaotic main event on SmackDown.

On the May 20th edition of WWE SmackDown, The Usos unified the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships by defeating RK-Bro. Following the bout, The Usos and Roman Reigns beat down the former champs, injuring Randy Orton in the process. Ever since then, Riddle has been determined to find a way to avenge his fallen ally.

With Orton gone, the King of Bros has formed an alliance with Shinsuke Nakamura, leading to another clash with The Usos on June 3rd. However, Sami Zayn, the self-appointed Bloodline sympathiser, helped The Usos on their way to another victory by distracting their opponents with Roman Reigns’ theme music.

This led to Riddle meeting Zayn in the ring on June 10th in a Singles Match. the stipulations stated that, if Zayn won, Riddle would be banished from SmackDown, but if Riddle won, he would earn the right to face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

During the match, Zayn attempted to get in Riddle’s head by using the RKO, but the Original Bro escaped it and tried to hit one of his own, only for Zayn to turn it into a Blue Thunder Bomb. However, it wasn’t enough to keep Riddle down and he turned a Helluva Kick into an RKO for the victory.

After the match, The Usos attacked Riddle, but he was able to fight them off with the help of a Kendo Stick.

This means that, on the June 17th episode of SmackDown, Riddle will finally get his hands on Roman Reigns with the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on the line. This will mark the Head of the Table’s first match on WWE TV since WrestleMania Backlash, where he and The Usos defeated Drew McIntyre and RK-Bro.
