Long-time Senior Ringside Physician Dr. Chris Amann Exits WWE

WWE Senior Ringside Physician Dr Chris Amann

It has been reported that after 14 years as WWE’s Senior Ringside Physician, Dr Chris Amann has departed from the company.

Following the retirement of Vince McMahon as WWE Chairman and CEO in July, there has been a shakeup in backstage roles in the company that has effected every level from the Board of Directors down.

The latest in these changes is the exit of Dr Chris Amann, who had served as the company’s Senior Ringside Physician for 14 years, having taken the role in May 2008.

According to PWInsider, Amann was not terminated from his position, and in fact, handed in his notice some time ago before retiring earlier in September.

Amann was often seen at ringside during events, getting involved to help with potential injuries when required. He was also one of the figures involved in implementing WWE’s Wellness Policy as well as its Sports Medicine Programme.

Dr Chirs Amann’s name is likely best remembered by fans for his role in the departure of CM Punk from the company. He filed a defamation lawsuit against Punk and Colt Cabana ridiculing his work as a doctor during Punk’s infamous appearance on Cabana’s Art of Wrestling podcast, this included accusing Amann of ignoring a growth on Punk’s back.

The case went to trial and, ultimately, Amann was unsuccessful as the judge sided with Punk and Cabana in 2018.
