Rhea Ripley’s SummerSlam Opponent “Penciled In”

Rhea Ripley

Rhea Ripley could be in for her biggest challenge yet as Women’s World Champion as WWE lines up a challenger for The Judgment Day star at SummerSlam.

Rhea Ripley has held onto her Women’s World Championship since defeating Charlotte Flair for what was then known as the SmackDown Women’s Title at WrestleMania 39. Since then Ripley has only defended the title three times as she has been caught up in other Judgment Day business, particularly that of Dominik Mysterio.

With SummerSlam on the horizon, it seems inevitable that Rhea Ripley will be putting her championship on the line and it seems WWE already has an idea of who The Eradicator will be facing.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that the belief is Rhea Ripley will be going one-on-one with Raquel Rodriguez come SummerSlam:

“They’re not there yet [with the story], but that match was penciled in last week.”

Following Money In The Bank, Raquel Rodriguez is one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions once again so if she does challenge Rhea Ripley, it’s likely that Rodriguez’s and Liv Morgan’s title won’t be on the show.

Meltzer previously listed six massive matches on the slate for SummerSlam with many of them set up through what happened at Money In The Bank. The matches are –

  • Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso – WWE Universal Championship
  • Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar
  • Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch
  • Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair – WWE Women’s Championship
  • Gunther vs Drew McIntyre – WWE Intercontinental Championship
  • Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler

Logan Paul is also set to be part of the show and he could well be taking on Ricochet following the high-flying star challenging Paul to meet him face-to-face on Raw following their backstage brawl at Money In The Bank.
