Rhea Ripley Was Rushed To Emergency Room After Suffering Gruesome Injury At Home
Rhea Ripley is one of the fiercest warriors inside a WWE ring.
But outside of it, she’s a family person with a husband and three pet dogs. Before becoming the WWE Women’s Champion at WrestleMania 42, Ripley suffered a minor setback in her personal life.
A few days before the Show of Shows, the 29-year-old superstar was photographed by her husband and AEW superstar Buddy Matthews. He shared the picture on his Instagram Story, which showed her sitting on a hospital bed; he also captioned it WASTED.
It was complemented by a graphic picture revealing a deep gash on her leg that was later stitched up by the doctors.
At the time, there was less context available, which led to fans speculating that it was the aftermath of a blindsided attack Rhea Ripley had endured on SmackDown at the hands of Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab.
Rhea Ripley Was Hospitalized After An Accident With Her Dog
Rhea Ripley was the latest guest on Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story? podcast. The women’s champion revealed that he hospital visit before WrestleMania was courtesy of her dog, Barry, who caused an injury to her by accident.
Barry. My Barry boy, you know, sometimes he just gets so excited and he doesn’t understand that his teeth are sharp and he opens his mouth. So like I was playing with him and I definitely riled him up and I started jumping over him and I did one jump. But he also slid at the same time, and as he slid, he opened his mouth to turn and just had a big excitement. And my leg just got caught on his one tooth, like just one singular tooth.
Rhea Ripley spoke as if she somewhat admired the injury, claiming that she could see yellow flesh even before she began to bleed.
It was so perfect it couldn’t happen again. And it just instantly split my leg open and I looked down. I just stopped. I looked down and all I can see is yellow flesh. It’s not even bleeding. So I’m like, I know it’s deep and it’s like I just have fat hanging out. And I was like, ‘Oh God damn it.’
Ripley then spoke about how fragile humans were as compared to dogs and more susceptible to gnarly injuries.
Yeah, it makes me think like, we are really insignificant in the food chain. Like if they really wanted to hurt us, they could. And it’s wild. Like, our skin is so thin and fragile. I’ve seen my dogs fight, and they grab each other’s skin, and they’re not even fazed by it. Like, his tooth just nicked my leg and I was cut open. Yeah, it was bad.
Rhea Ripley also shared the aftermath of the incident, claiming that she approached Barry after getting the stitches. She claimed that her pet knew that he had hurt her and appeared upset.
But then, like, when I came home from the hospital with the stitches and stuff, I let him smell it and he smelled it. And he literally just sat there… he looks really like an old depressed man. Like he gets the posture and everything. He knew something happened, he just didn’t know what. And he felt so terrible. I could just tell.
