Rhea Ripley Addresses Not Headlining WrestleMania 39 Saturday

Rhea Ripley has shared her views on WWE moving the Men’s Undisputed Tag Team Championship match to the Main Event for Night One of WrestleMania 39.

WWE faced criticism for not putting 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble Winner Rhea Ripley challenging Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair in the main event slot at WrestleMania 39.

With the popularity surge of Sami Zayn in the months building to this year’s Show of the Immortals, Triple H felt that a storyline that saw Zayn and Kevin Owens defeat The Uso’s was the biggest story to tell.

Charlotte has previously expressed her frustration as the pair’s rivalry has been ongoing since 2020.

This was the second WrestleMania Championship match between Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley, after Charlotte challenged Ripley at WrestleMania 36.

After winning the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble, Rhea Ripley was expecting to main event Night One, with Men’s Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes closing the show against Roman Reigns on Night Two.

Mami was speaking with Former NXT Superstar Mark Andrews on his My Love Letter To Wrestling podcast, and explained her mindset after discovering her match with Charlotte would be followed by the Men’s Tag Team Championship.

“I understand why we didn’t [main event Night One] because we didn’t really have that good story build going into it like the Bloodline did with Sami and Kevin.

So, I 100% agree on that decision. But there was that side where you’re like, ‘Well, I’m gonna prove a point and be like follow that.'”

Ripley successfully defended the Smackdown Women’s Championship against Zelina Vega at Backlash and Natalya at last weekend’s Night of Champions.

The Australian has hinted that The Judgement Day could soon have new members.

Her fellow Judgement Day stable member Damien Priest has the opportunity to secure more glory for the group as he faces off against Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship on tomorrow nights Raw.

Rhea Ripley is the Fifth WWE Women’s Grand Slam Champion and will be keeping an eye on which Superstars qualify for the Money In The Bank Ladder Match after WWE announced matches across this week’s Raw and Smackdown.
