WWE Backlash 2026 is just around the corner. However, the results of some of the matches may already be out in the open.

The upcoming premium live event will take place on May 9 at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida. As of this writing, the sports entertainment juggernaut has announced five matches for Backlash. They are:

  • Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker (With Paul Heyman)
  • Trick Williams (c) (With Lil Yachty) vs. Sami Zayn – WWE United States Championship Match
  • Iyo Sky vs. Asuka
  • Danhausen and Mystery Partner vs. The Miz and Kit Wilson
  • Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jacob Fatu – World Heavyweight Championship Match

It is pretty evident that Triple H has packed the card with some blockbuster encounters. Moreover, John Cena is also set to return to WWE to seemingly make an announcement that will “shock the very foundation” of the promotion.

According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, people within WWE mentioned that the creative team has some clear favorites heading into Backlash. As per the report, Roman Reigns and Trick Williams are likely to retain their titles against Jacob Fatu and Sami Zayn, respectively. Iyo Sky is expected to get the win over her arch-nemesis, Asuka.

Jacob Fatu makes a revelation ahead of WWE Backlash 2026

The Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu feud has created some big headlines on the road to Backlash. This is partly due to Fatu having the upperhand over The OTC. The Samoan Werewolf, especially, surprised everyone when he used the Tongan Death Grip to lay out Reigns.

While speaking on the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast, Jacob Fatu revealed that the aggressive nature of his program with Roman Reigns has caused some real-life friction.

This is the side that people don’t see, yeah there’s friction from the elders. If you know our culture and you know us — I’m not just talking about Samoans and Tongans, I’m talking about our Polynesian people — you know how family means so much to us. I mean, look at The Bloodline. We talk about our children, we talk a lot because it’s family over everything. So yeah, it is different. Yeah man, there’s a little friction here and there, especially with the OGs, the ones who are actually back at home and back in San Francisco next to the Cow Palace.

It’s a little different, especially having our cousins, there’s a lot of us. Of course they don’t want to see us go at it, our cousins, they’re not no fans to where it’s different when they see us working somebody else compared to us working together. They seen it with Roman, they’re seen it with Jey. That didn’t start off good, but then once The Bloodline started coming, we started to understand. Now, it’s different.

It will be interesting to see if Jacob Fatu can pull off a huge upset by dethroning Roman Reigns at Backlash 2026.
