Report: “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt Will Challenge WWE Universal Champion at Hell in a Cell PPV on Oct. 6

Bray Wyatt as the Universal Champion? It might happen sooner than a lot of people might have thought. The Twitter account for the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento noted that Wyatt will challenge either current Universal Champion Seth Rollins or challenge Braun Strowman at the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view on Sunday, October 6. Here’s the tweet.

This has not been confirmed by WWE yet, but the guess here is that WWE told the Golden 1 Center to promote this to try to boost ticket sales because as you can see on Ticketmaster there are tickets available there and on the secondary market.

Wyatt’s character “The Fiend” is 1-0 on WWE television with a win over Finn Balor on television, but Wyatt is a former WWE Champion from when he was on the Smackdown brand two years ago.

It’s worth noting that often times WWE will list PPV matches for venues and then it never ends up happening because they advertised it months in advance. In this case, it’s less than six weeks away, so once again I think it’s WWE telling the Golden 1 Center to tell the fans that Bray Wyatt is going to get a Universal Title match. Wyatt as The Fiend is seen as an attraction the way The Undertaker has been for decades, so it’s smart of WWE to promote this if that is the plan at Hell in a Cell.

TJR THOUGHTS: If they do go along with The Fiend against Rollins or Strowman then I have a hard time seeing somebody other than The Fiend walking out with the Universal Championship. Considering how much WWE has invested in this unique character, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to lose matches.
