Report: All Elite Wrestling Weekly Wrestling Show to Air on TNT, Announcement Expected Next Week

Here’s some interesting All Elite Wrestling news similar to something we have reported on in the past. There were some whispers within the media world about where AEW was going to end up for their cable television show this fall. Today, we learned more.

It was reported today by Tony Maglio of The Wrap that the All Elite Wrestling (AEW)-Turner deal is now “virtually done” according to a person with knowledge of the plans. The plan is to announce the partnership through select members of the press one hour prior to WarnerMedia’s Wednesday upfront event. Maglio specifically noted that a small group of reporters will be informed of the agreement the evening before.

The plan is for All Elite Wrestling to air on TNT this fall. TNT is the former home of WCW Monday Nitro from September 1995 until its end in March 2001.

Tony Khan, the AEW President, is expected to be at the upfront event at Madison Square Garden next Wednesday (May 15th) along with several of the top wrestlers in the promotion. The presentation that AEW will make to media buyers will take place at around 10 AM next Wednesday.

The terms of the AEW/TNT deal are not expected to be disclosed because AEW is not a publicly traded company like WWE is.

The first major AEW event is called “Double or Nothing” and it takes place on May 25th, so obviously this is a huge month for the new company.

As for other countries, there is no word yet on what cable stations you might be able to watch AEW. Since the AEW weekly wrestling show is starting this fall, they have some time to announce deals in other countries.

Credit goes to Front Row Brian for breaking the story about AEW with WarnerMedia (TNT’s parent company) last month.

The rumors are that the AEW weekly wrestling show would be live on Tuesday or Wednesday nights starting in October when Smackdown is moved to Fox on Fridays. I think Tuesday is most likely.

TJR Thoughts: This is huge for AEW and I’m happy for them. TNT is one of the biggest cable networks in the United States and it’s familiar to wrestling fans due to Nitro’s history on the channel.
