Released WWE Star Teases Return In New Role

Released WWE star Shayna Baszler wants to return in a new role.

The Rock’s daughter, Ava, recently confirmed her exit from the Stamford-based promotion after stepping down from her role as NXT General Manager.

Reports suggest that the company offered Ava a renewed deal with higher pay to continue as NXT’s on-screen authority figure.

But she chose not to accept it and decided to move on to other opportunities. Her exit marks the end of a historic run where she became the youngest General Manager in WWE history at age 22.

Shortly after she departed from the Stamford-based company, Ava shared a series of strong anti–ICE and anti-administration posts on social media.

This sparked speculation among fans that WWE’s well-known ties to U.S. President Donald Trump may have influenced her decision, much like the recent situation involving Hall of Famer Mick Foley.

With the NXT General Manager position now vacant, several names have already been floated as possible replacements.

Chelsea Green publicly threw her name into the mix on social media, claiming that if she can “run a continent” during her United States Championship reign, she could easily run NXT as well.

Ex-WWE star Shayna Baszler also hinted that she is interested in stepping into the newly opened NXT General Manager role. This might be an indication that Baszler is on her way back to the Stamford-based company.

WWE released Shayna Baszler in May 2025 as part of a significant round of roster cuts, despite having three years remaining on her contract at the time.
