Recent WWE Firing Down To Failed Drugs Test

Troy

A new report has claimed that the reason a WWE superstar was recently released from their contract was due to a failed drugs test.

Troy ‘Two Dimes’ Donovan was let go by WWE on 11th June 2022, with reports citing ‘policy issues’ as the reason for his termination. It was also noted that it may be possible for Donovan to return to the company in a year’s time.

Until his release, Donovan had been competing as part of Tony D’Angelo’s stable, including a successful outing at the recent In Your House event where he teamed with D’Angelo and Channing Lorenzo to defeat Legado Del Fantasma, with the losing side having to join the winner’s group.

In a new report from Dave Meltzer at The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it has been said that the release was actually because Troy Donovan failed a drugs test and that John Laurinaitis was the man who informed him of a potential return date.

Troy “2 Dimes” Donovan, who had wrestled independently as Cole Karter including with AEW, was fired for a failed drug test. He had worked the first night of the NXT tour in Tampa on 6/10 and was told the next day, before the Largo show. John Laurinaitis told him that if everything is clear he should apply for a job to return in about a year. Donovan wrote, “Thank you to everyone who’s reached out. Mistakes happen and lessons are learned. A bump in the road doesn’t define me though. I’ll be back.”

On the house show in Tampa, Legado Del Fantasma gained a measure of revenge against Troy Donovan and Channing Lorenzo in a two-on-two tag match.
