R-Truth’s WWE Return Kept Secret From Top Name By Triple H

R-Truth WWE

When WWE released R-Truth in June 2025, many fans thought that was the end of his time in the company, especially since he had been used very less on TV for a while.

But WWE brought him back in a major way for a surprise return at Money in the Bank, only six days later, after his release.

WWE Unreal Season 2 revealed that Truth’s 2025 return was one of the most tightly guarded secrets in WWE. Only the wrestlers involved in the segment, a small group of producers, and a handful of key creative people knew Truth was coming back that night.

The idea was to keep the surprise completely under wraps so that the audience would genuinely not see it coming, making the moment feel huge and emotional.

Why Triple H Didn’t Tell Michael Cole About R-Truth’s Return?

In the January 20 episode of WWE Unreal, Triple H is shown initially thinking about telling Michael Cole in advance so Cole could time his call perfectly.

But when he brought this up with Nick Khan, the WWE President reminded him how powerful and raw Cole’s reaction was when CM Punk returned after a long absence at Survivor Series 2023.

Triple H then decided not to tell Cole about R-Truth’s return so that when Truth’s music hits, and he comes out, Cole’s would give the most genuine and organic reaction, and that’s exactly what happened.

Triple H: I feel like I should tell Cole.

Nick Khan: On Cole, remember, he did great on the Punk return, so…

Triple H: Well, maybe I won’t tell him. He doesn’t need to know. He’ll be like, “That’s fucking cool. You didn’t tell me. I’ll call it real.”

Following his return, R-Truth signed a new 4-year contract with WWE with a three-year option. He revealed this detail in a recent interview with TV Insider.
