Letting R-Truth Go “Made Perfect Business Sense,” Says WWE Executive
Loyalty is just a seven-letter word for one WWE executive who didn’t blame the company for letting R-Truth go.
In the summer of 2025, one of the most unlikely stories in recent years set the wrestling world ablaze as WWE told R-Truth that his contract would not be extended, leaving him almost free to leave.
Truth told the world about his status, and the backlash was massive. So much so that WWE president Nick Khan was forced to intervene to sign R-Truth to a new deal. Truth soon returned to WWE TV, with a shocking short haircut and a serious new attitude while calling himself Ron Killings.
This new look version of the star lasted for about one match before he returned to being the perennially confused R-Truth.
Road Dogg Admits WWE Exit For R-Truth Made Sense
Some fans might have been surprised after Truth revealed how long his new WWE deal will last, and it seems one executive in the company might be as well, as he made the business case for the company cutting ties with the 54-year-old.
Speaking in a Season 2 sneak peek of WWE: Unreal, R-Truth’s former tag team partner, Road Dogg, explained why it made sense for WWE to let him go:
While it broke my heart, it made perfect business sense to not renew his contract. At his age, you might not get that reward back.
Road Dogg was recently pushed down the pecking order backstage in WWE in a reshuffle that sees him continue in his role as one of the co-lead writers of SmackDown.
