Paul Heyman Repays Gunther’s Favor On WWE SmackDown; Cody Rhodes Pays the Price
The Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes had a tough outing on Friday Night SmackDown last week, as he was attacked by the Ring General, Gunther, following his match with Ricky Saints.
The former World Heavyweight Champion posed with the title following his attack, making his intentions clear. The SmackDown General Manager, Nick Aldis, wasn’t a fan of his actions but welcomed him to the blue brand tonight.
However, before he could head out to the ring for his segment, Cody Rhodes made his way down the ring and called out Gunther after his vicious attack last week.
Gunther tried to jump Cody Rhodes on WWE SmackDown again
As Rhodes waited for the Ring General to come out, he was instead met by Paul Heyman, who carried a contract in his hand. Heyman owed Gunther a favour after he had saved Heyman on the Road to WrestleMania from an attack from Seth Rollins.
Gunther cashed in that favor and the Wiseman to set up a contract with Aldis for a match with Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Clash in Italy. Heyman said that his job ended at drawing up the contract and that Rhodes would have to get Gunther’s signature himself.
As he headed backstage, Gunther ran in from the crowd and tried to jump Cody once again. The American Nightmare was prepared for him tonight though, as he got out of the Sleeper Hold on multiple occasions and attacked him head on, causing him to retreat. Rhodes warned Gunther, claiming that if he wants to face him, he is easy to find, but hard to beat.
