Paige has a lot of trust in her WWE tag team partner.

One of the biggest feel-good stories in WWE this year has been the return of the legendary Paige, who is a former 2-time WWE Divas Champion.

At WrestleMania 42, Nikki Bella was supposed to team up with twin sister Brie Bella in a 4-way match for the Women’s Tag Team Titles, but Nikki’s ankle injury prevented that. It led to Brie getting a new partner, the returning Paige, who received a huge ovation upon her return to WWE after being away for four years. It was also nine years since Paige last wrestled in WWE.

In that WrestleMania 42 match, Paige and Brie Bella became the new Women’s Tag Team Champions, which is something neither woman had won before, since the titles didn’t exist during their initial runs in the company.

Since winning the gold, Paige and Brie have taken on all comers like The Irresistible Forces (Lash Legend & Nia Jax), Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, and The Judgment Day (Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez).

On WWE SmackDown in Providence, Paige and Brie beat Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid in a non-title match thanks to Brie’s crafty veteran move of turning Paige on top of Henley while the referee was ejecting Jacy Jayne from ringside, and that led to the popular British star getting the win.

Following SmackDown, Paige responded to a fan on X/Twitter who predicted that Brie would turn on Paige at some point. However, Paige seems confident that it won’t happen.

Brie would never turn on me. That’s my girl 🥹❤️ #ForeverChamps @NikkiAndBrie

To be fair, the fan’s prediction could come true, especially when Nikki Bella is cleared to return, but at least for now, Paige doesn’t seem too worried about it.

Paige Had To Meet Certain Criteria For WWE Return

After her WWE run ended in 2022, Paige would go on to sign with AEW using her real name, Saraya, and was cleared to return to wrestling after a serious neck injury sidelined her for nearly five years. Following the two years in AEW, Saraya spoke openly about wanting to return to WWE as Paige.

While appearing on WWE Hall of Famer Stephanie McMahon’s “What’s Your Story?” podcast, Paige talked about what WWE President Nick Khan told her prior to her return.

“He (Nick Khan) goes, ‘Two things: your neck needs to be okay, and we have to do a drug test.’ I was like, ‘Fair enough—hey, I can control the drug test, I’m clean as a whistle. I don’t know how my neck’s been—it’s been a few years since I got it checked.

The next week I fly to Birmingham—Nikki was there getting her ankle done at the same time. That’s super weird—I was like, ‘What the heck.’ It was perfect timing. So I was at the doctor there from like 5:45 a.m. till 3 or 4 in the afternoon doing all these tests, because you guys need to be thorough, make sure my neck is perfect.

And at one point I thought something was wrong because all the doctors were around the screen, calling other doctors. I was like, ‘Something’s happening—they’re not gonna let me go back.’ And I’m exhausted sitting there, and he comes in and he’s like, ‘You ready to go home, kid?’ I bawled my eyes out. I cried my eyes out.”

Even though she passed the test for her neck, Paige was still stressing out, but everything turned out to be okay.

“It was a couple things—the fact that my neck was good. The last time I was in WWE, my neck wasn’t, and I had to retire… And it’s just the fact that I’m gonna be okay—I was like, ‘Wow, my neck is good. I’m happy, I’m healthy, everything’s going right.’ And then for some reason I had it in my head like, ‘What if I ate something—like a poppy seed or something?’ I hadn’t even taken ibuprofen—I was so worried about any kind of medicinal stuff… Anyway, I was fine. They were like, ‘You’re good, calm down.

So yeah, I was completely cleared, and then it kinda went into negotiations… and then this weekend was obviously Mania, so it was a quick turnaround.”

In the two months since her return, Paige has shown no ring rust and she looks at home in a WWE ring again, which is all she’s ever wanted.
