Orange Cassidy has shared what he originally wanted to do during his reign as AEW’s International Champion.

This past Friday on an episode of AEW Rampage that was taped nearly one week earlier, Orange Cassidy defeated Aaron Solo for his 30th consecutive successful title defense of the AEW International Title.

As one of AEW’s most popular wrestlers, Orange Cassidy has evolved a lot in his time in the company. It took a long time for him to have his first match, but since then Cassidy has impressed a lot of people with his skills in the ring and his ability to make the comeback leading to victory after victory.

At AEW All In London on Sunday at Wembley Stadium, Orange Cassidy got the win for his team in a chaotic 5-on-5 Stadium Stampede Match. Orange teamed up with his Best Friends Chuck Taylor & Trent Beretta along with Penta El Zero Miedo & Eddie Kingston to defeat the Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta, who were joined by Santana & Ortiz.

In the Stadium Stampede Match, Orange Cassidy got the win when he had broken glass on his fist and he punched Castagnoli with his Orange Punch finishing move for the win.

Orange Cassidy Wanted His Title Reign To Elevate Other Wrestlers

Since October 12, 2022, Orange Cassidy has been the International Champion, which was originally called the All-Atlantic Championship when he won it. It’s been over 320 days for Orange holding that title as he closes in one year as the champion.

While talking to Kenny McIntosh of Inside The Ropes, Orange was asked what he had in mind for his title reign.

“When I won it against PAC it was the All-Atlantic Championship and I just wanted to beat PAC, that was the goal. Then I inherited the All-Atlantic Championship. I didn’t know what to do with it because it didn’t have an identity it was just another belt in AEW. I didn’t know what I was going to do with it, I just did what I was going to do, I did what I wanted to do, and I wanted to make it something that anybody could challenge for at any time.”

“There are tons of people in AEW, the roster is gigantic as I am sure everybody knows and there are a lot of people on TV that you don’t get to necessarily see them get to do what they do. So I wanted to make that title something that can show those people, show that they can do it because AEW is full of so many talented people that we can shine a light on them and give them their spotlight.”

“And it evolved into that and people coming along and being like I am going to take this belt, I want this spotlight, that’s why there are so many people challenging for it. But it’s just down to the rules that I have in my life. I live my life by a set of rules. The first rule is there are no rules, the second one is that you’ve just got to do it.”

Looking ahead, Orange Cassidy could have two title defenses in the week ahead. It was announced that Orange Cassidy will defend the International Title against Penta El Zero Miedo this Wednesday on AEW Dynamite. The winner of that match will defend the International Title against Jon Moxley at AEW All Out in Chicago next Sunday, September 3rd.
