Medical Official Checks In On Cope After Serious Setback At AEW Dynasty
Adam Copeland & Christian Cage’s rivalry with FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) is a personal one.
The feud between two of the finest AEW tag teams took a gnarly turn at last year’s All Out in September. During the pay-per-view, Cope’s wife and WWE Hall of Famer Beth Copeland made her first appearance for the promotion.
Beth immediately neutralized Stokely, who had been interfering in their tag match.
While the Canadian duo won the battle, they lost the war as FTR, along with Kip Sabian and Nick Wayne, attacked them and handcuffed Cope to the ring ropes.
After destroying Christian, they shifted their focus to Beth, as Wheeler and Harwood hit her with the Spike Piledriver.
Adam Copeland Left Bloodied At AEW Dynasty
Cope & Christian returned to AEW at Revolution and immediately issued a challenge to FTR for the World Tag Team Championship.
At Dynasty on Sunday, it was a great back-and-forth contest, as was expected from the veteran performers.
After FTR dominated Copeland in the opening minutes, Cage dominated the proceedings after being tagged in, even hitting a Killswich for a near pinfall.
FTR worked on Cage’s injured left arm to keep his offense in check. The bout briefly witnessed high-flying moves as well as submissions.
Wheeler tried introducing the tag title into the match for a cheap win, but ended up inadvertently knocking out Copeland, busting open the 52-year-old. Even Stokely tried to interfere by knocking Christian off the apron.
FTR then disposed of Christian by throwing him over the timekeeper’s table, leaving a bleeding Copeland to fend for himself.
In the closing minutes, Copeland attempted to hit a Spear, but FTR hit him with Shatter Machine for the win. After the match, he was checked on by medical professionals to examine excessive bleeding.
