Oba Femi In Discussions For A Blockbuster Match At WWE WrestleMania 42
Oba Femi could be featured on the card for WrestleMania 42.
For several weeks, WWE has been building storylines that can culminate in matches at the Showcase of the Immortals.
One match has already been announced, with CM Punk defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns. But first, he will have to overcome a challenge from Finn Balor at Elimination Chamber, which was finalized on the latest edition of Raw.
As the promotion continues to work towards other bouts, Oba Femi remains in contention for a match at WrestleMania, with Bodyslam.net reporting that The Ruler fighting ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar has been discussed by the creative team.
While the match is currently on the table, it has yet to be signed off on.
Just recently, the 27-year-old wrestler had discussed his Royal Rumble face-off with Lesnar during a virtual appearance on the No-Contest Wrestling podcast, stating that fans could be looking at a ‘big money fight.’
In that moment, you have that mental agreement like yes, we know we have something so let’s not give away too much right now. I’m glad it got the reaction, I’m glad the IWC desires actually translates to the live crowd and what’s the casual fans want to see. That’s an amazing realization. We have something there, it’s a big money fight.
Oba Femi Still Awaiting Main Roster Brand Status
Since relinquishing his NXT Championship on January 6 at New Year’s Evil, Oba Femi has made appearances on both Raw and SmackDown.
On last week’s Raw, he destroyed the War Raiders duo of Erik and Ivar, who were awaiting their tag team match opponents in the ring. Instead, they got dealt a rough hand, as Femi made light work of both heavyweights.
He subsequently showed up on Friday night SmackDown, where he competed in his first official match, squashing Kit Wilson in the process.
According to a report by Cory Hays of Bodyslam, Oba Femi was to be placed on the red brand. It will be interesting to see whether WWE goes ahead with its original plan or pivots.
