Major NXT Star Reflects On Helpful Conversations With The Undertaker
With the wealth of knowledge The Undertaker can clearly impart, one NXT star was amazed the veteran even knew who he was.
When The Dead Man finally called time on his glittering three decade career, it was clear there would be plenty of wrestlers in the years to come who could benefit from the knowledge he’d built up during his time inside the squared circle.
One of those is current NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes. Having reached the top of the black and gold mountain when he defeated Bron Breakker at Stand & Deliver, Hayes has now looked back at some of the knowledge he was given by The Undertaker.
In a discussion with Alistair McGeorge at The Metro, Hayes opened up on how he was initially surprised that The Undertaker even knew who he was, and that the way he explained things just made them click for him.
The cool thing is, he knew who I was. That was the thing where I was like, “Oh my God!” I was like, “Hey, how are you doing?” He was like, “Yeah, I know who are you.” Inside, I’m like, “Holy…”
The cool thing is, he was so chilled. Not like he wouldn’t be chilled, but you just never know. But he’s just so cool, he was just so relaxed and broke it down in a way – sometimes you’ll hear the same thing said a different way from somebody else, and it clicks.
He had told me one or two things that I was like, “Oh Shoot! Yeah, that’s pretty much what they’ve been telling me but not like that!” Taker was cool, man, and I’ve seen him a couple times since and he’s always being very cool.
At WrestleMania 38 weekend in Dallas, Texas, The Undertaker was rightfully inducted in to the WWE Hall Of Fame. As part of that weekend, Vince McMahon took one more stunner – probably one of the most memorable, and one The Dead Man mocked the WWE Chairman for afterwards.
