John Cena is returning to WWE just a few months after his retirement.

The Leader of the Cenation hung up his boots in December following his loss against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event. While he has insisted he would never wrestle again, the 17-time world champion revealed that he has been discussing a new role in the Stamford-based company.

On Monday, The Last Real Champion made a massive announcement, revealing that he will be returning to WWE as the host of WrestleMania 42 next month in Las Vegas.

Ex-WWE Head Writer Vince Russo Addressed John Cena’s Comeback

On a recent episode of The Coach & Bro Show, former WWE head writer Vince Russo and his co-host Jonathan Coachman discussed John Cena’s return to host WrestleMania. The move was reportedly made to boost ticket sales for the Show of Shows.

The wrestling veteran claimed that WWE’s decision to bring back Cena showed desperation. He added that even the return of the 17-time world champion would not save WrestleMania, suggesting it may have come a little too late.

Here’s what I feel when I see this. This is desperation, guys. We’ve literally tried everything. We’ve tried. Now, we’re bringing back a guy that retired two months ago. This to me just reeks desperation. When I see this, that is my knee-jerk reaction. We are just gonna do everything we possibly can to sell these tickets.

Guys, maybe you should have thought about that a year ago when you put these unaffordable prices on tickets. Okay, now you’re four weeks away. You think you’re gonna pull every rabbit out of the hat and sell out WrestleMania. It’s too litte, too late. And there’s a word that Coach and I use on this show all the time, greed, greed, greed, greed. and what has greed done? It has come back to bite you in the a**. And I hate to break the news to you, but even John Cena isn’t gonna save you this time. [14:01 onwards]
