Nikki Bella is currently out of action due to an ankle injury.

The Fearless star suffered the injury during a tag team match on the March 27, 2026, episode of Friday Night SmackDown, where she teamed up with her twin sister, Brie Bella, to face Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. She rolled her ankle during an exchange with Flair.

Initial reports suggested it was a simple sprain. However, subsequent MRIs confirmed that she had fractured, torn, and sprained her ankle. Just two weeks ahead of WrestleMania 42, she had to undergo surgery to repair the damage.

Due to the injury and surgery, she was unable to compete at WrestleMania 42. As a result, returning star Paige replaced her in the Women’s Tag Team Championship Fatal 4-Way match.

Nikki Bella recently stated that she expects to be out for 6–8 weeks.

Nikki Bella Is Targeting Night Of Champions Return After Ankle Injury

On a recent episode of The Nikki & Brie Show, Nikki Bella revealed that she is targeting a return in June. While addressing WWE’s announcement regarding Night of Champions taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on June 27, Nikki said she is hopeful of being medically cleared by then.

Nikki said, “Hopefully I will get to see you all in June. They just announced Night of Champions is going to be happening in June, so fingers crossed that still goes. But obviously, I’d love to see you all there.” H/T Ringside News

The Bella Twins have also stated that this is their final run in WWE, and missing this year’s WrestleMania was especially disappointing for Nikki Bella.

Nikki said on her show:

I don’t think a WrestleMania moment for me is going to come around [in the USA]. I get that I’ll probably have my last WrestleMania next year in Saudi Arabia, maybe, but other than that, that will be it for me. So this would have been my last WrestleMania moment to share with family members and share with people here and, you know, really feel something.

And I’ve worked really hard the past year and a half, and I haven’t complained. I’ve done what I’ve been told. You know, I’ve helped put people over, even though I don’t care about that.

But I’ve really–as far as my character and the impact that I can have, I’ve been very okay taking a step back and helping out and not b*tching about it. So this was my moment that I worked really hard for this past year and a half. And for that to all go away is extremely hard.
