Nia Jax Comments On The Difficulties Of Being A Female Star In WWE

Nia Jax

Nia Jax has opened up about the extra difficulties faced by female Superstars in WWE.

Despite the enormous positives, being a WWE Superstar isn’t always easy. While performers are used to wrestling taking a toll on their bodies, and spending their entire lives on the road, Nia Jax has revealed the extra problems faced by female stars.

During an appearance on the Wives of Wrestling podcast, Lina Fanene, formerly known as Nia Jax in WWE discussed the financial cost of being a female star in the company.

“And you know, for a woman in the industry, like there’s a lot of expenses that we have. Like we’re constantly like hair, makeup, gear, you know, we have events. Like we have come out of pocket with that, that’s all out of our pocket, like WWE doesn’t give a budget for like ‘Oh here you have to be on the red carpet and do this.’ Like it’s us like that’s coming out of my pocket.

“I remember like I had to do the upfronts and I had to do like the People’s Choice Awards. I had to do all these things and these are all out of my pocket, but you know the company takes it and they they plaster everywhere and they’re like, ‘Oh look at this,’ it’s like, ‘But that’s my money,’ and so anyways, I would make sure that I was very smart with what I do with my money just because I was like this could end tomorrow and I don’t want to be stuck here saying like I gave up eight years of my life and I have nothing to show for it.”

After signing with WWE in 2014, Nia Jax first appeared in NXT before moving to the main roster where she became Raw Women’s Champion, as well as Women’s Tag Team Champion. However, the star was released by the company in November 2021.

Elsewhere during the interview, Jax discussed whether or not she is looking to return to the ring.
