MJF Opens Up About “Very, Very Intense” ADHD

MJF puts on AEW Dynamite Diamond Ring

MJF has opened up about his struggles away from the ring.

On-screen, MJF is one of the most divisive, abrasive, arrogant, and single biggest stars AEW has ever seen. His razor-sharp promos have earned him praise far and wide, while his performances from bell to bell have long backed up that there’s more than meets the eye.

However, for someone who appears to find life as a wrestler so effortless, his day-to-day life is often much more of a struggle.

During a new interview with Jimmy Traina on the SI Media Podcast, MJF discussed his life and career to date, even offering a rare look at the man behind the abrasive character he portrays on television. This included a very frank and honest discussion about his ADHD.

“Hardcore. My ADHD is very, very, very intense, and I find the only time I am able to focus on one thing, and this is no exaggeration, is when I put the scarf on and I go to work. It is the only time the rest of my day I really struggle.”

The star went on to break down how the disorder affects him in his regular life compared to when the cameras are on, and he’s in the ring.

“No, I can’t even explain it. I truly can’t explain it. When I walk through that curtain, I don’t have it anymore, and I don’t know why there’s zero explanation for it because in every other facet of my life, it is an issue. It made learning close to impossible.

It’s funny. It took me a lot longer to learn how to read and write, which is funny when you think about how I’ve made my money via my mouth, but I was a really late bloomer when it came to learning how to speak.

Somebody would be trying to teach me how to speak and I’d be f*cking Lala Land thinking about 70 different things at once but for whatever reason, when I walk through that curtain, it’s gone.”

MJF Sends Violent Message To Hangman Adam Page

The laid-back and vulnerable MJF on display during the interview is in stark contrast to the man who tried to light Hangman Adam Page on fire during Dynamite.

After waiting for Page outside of the arena in Sacramento, the star lured him into the arena with an impersonator before attacking from behind. Following the assault, MJF poured lighter fluid on Hangman after taunting fans and saying they love it when his rival does the same.

However, while he stood over Page with a lighter, a raft of referees and other personnel rushed in to save the day and drag MJF backstage.
