MJF To Defend AEW World Title On Collision Against Former Champion

MJF will put the AEW World Title on the line against a former champion on Collision.

It was a very busy night for Maxwell Jacob Friedman on AEW Dynamite in Philadelphia.

In the opening match of the show, MJF faced off against Juice Robinson of Bullet Club Gold, who had The Gunns at ringside while Jay White was on commentary. That’s the same White who stole the AEW World Title from Friedman and is also Max’s opponent at Full Gear on November 18th.

That match between MJF and Juice ended when MJF hit Juice with a Dynamite Diamond Ring punch to the face. A Heatseeker followed leading to the champion Friedman getting the pinfall win. It was the fifth straight year that MJF won the match with the Dynamite Diamond Ring on the line.

After the match, MJF was attacked by Bullet Club Gold while also accepting an eight-man tag team match against that foursome next week on AEW Dynamite.

When he reached the ramp, MJF was greeted by the longest-reigning AEW World Champion Kenny Omega. As of Wednesday night, MJF was just six days away from reaching the 346-day mark as AEW World Champion.

Kenny Omega will challenge MJF for the AEW World Title on Collision

While standing on the stage on AEW Dynamite, Kenny Omega made his intentions known to the confident champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman.

“Hey Max, you seem to have a lot going on here. You have something that I want. But I’ve got something that you want. Even though I have no right to ask, and if you’re the type of scumbag that I think you are, you’ll laugh in my face. But if you are the champion that I think the fans want you to be, you’re gonna hear me out. I want that belt, Max, and I deserve the right to defend my streak. And if you are truly better than me and you know it, then Max, don’t be afraid to show it, pal.”

This led to MJF responding to the challenge by saying they can have a match this coming Saturday, October 28th on AEW Collision with the AEW World Title on the line.

Max: “Ok, how about the Cleaner versus the Devil, this Saturday night, for the AEW World Championship! May the best man win. And Kenny, he will, because my name is MJF and I’m better than you and you know it!”

Kenny Omega really liked that idea and had a message for MJF to end it.

“And I supposed on that note, we must bid these people adieu. Good night, and goodbye. And Max, three days, bitch.”

That “three days, bitch” line was a reference to MJF saying “13 days, bitch” to Omega last week on Dynamite.

Following their promo, AEW made the match official for this Saturday night on AEW Collision.
