Mickie James Reacts To Charlotte Flair Wanting To Wrestle Her

Mickie James is flattered that Charlotte Flair thinks so highly of her.

Charlotte Flair surprised everyone when she returned on the December 30th episode of SmackDown and beat Ronda Rousey in under a minute to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Now, as WWE heads into Royal Rumble season and embarks on the Road to WrestleMania, Charlotte is already toying with different ‘what if’ scenarios.

On a recent episode of WWE’s The Bump, Charlotte named Mickie James as a dream opponent against whom she’d like to defend her newly-won title. In response, Mickie James noted on WrestlingNews.co’s YouTube channel that she’s “honored” by Charlotte’s words:

“I’m obviously honored that she would say that. One of the only people I never really got to — besides in the Rumble — one of the people I never got to stand across the ring from was Charlotte Flair my whole time there. I got moved to ‘Raw,’ she went to ‘SmackDown,’ and I was aligned with Alexa [Bliss] a lot.”

Mickie James went on to play with some ‘what if’ scenarios of her own by commenting on what happened at last year’s Royal Rumble. As you may recall, Mickie James entered the Women’s Royal Rumble match last year despite being signed to Impact Wrestling and even came out wearing the Impact Knockouts (Women’s) Championship.

James went on to say that, since that unlikely situation did happen, then even less likely theoretical situations aren’t so unlikely anymore.

“Last year I would’ve told you absolutely not, we can’t see that,” James said. “But this year I go, anything is possible. It took a lot of magic to make that Royal Rumble [appearance] happen. It was so special, I still get chill bumps every time I watch that entrance.

It was so amazing and it would be hard to recreate and top; the only way to top it would be to win the Royal Rumble and then maybe go on and challenge Charlotte Flair, title versus title, whatever the case may be.”

Mickie James’ next big match is at Impact Hard To Kill on January 13th, 2023. On that show, she will be facing Jordynne Grace in a career vs. title match.
