Mercedes Mone Reacts To Bayley’s Royal Rumble Win

Bayley Mercedes Mone

Former WWE Superstar Mercedes Mone has shared her delight at Bayley’s 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble victory.

The SmackDown Superstar saw off the challenge 29 other women at Tropicana Field on 27th January to seal a title bout of her choosing at WrestleMania 40.

Having originally been expected to challenge Rhea Ripley in Philadelphia, Bayley shocked the wrestling world on the 2nd February edition of SmackDown by revealing that she would challenge fellow Damage CTRL member IYO SKY for the WWE Women’s Championship instead.

The decision came after the former NXT Women’s Champion noticed her stablemates gossiping behind her back. Bayley was then attacked by the group but was able to run them off after retrieving a pipe from under the ring.

The bout marks Bayley’s first ever singles title match at WrestleMania, an achievement that has drawn the praise of a close real-life pal.

During a recent appearance on ‘The Kick Rocks Wrestling‘ podcast, Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks during her WWE tenure, revealed her pride at her friend Bayley’s recent success:

“I am nothing but so proud and so happy for [Bayley]. To be the person, I’m backstage, I get to see her from afar, [and] do all this, see all her hard work, and hear her talk about her dreams and her hopes and what she wants to do in that business. To see it come through and to see so much magic that woman can make, she does so much for that division and I’m just beyond proud.

To know, to me, that she is going to main event WrestleMania, because that’s how it should be, I am just beyond the moon for her. She had a crazy past three years, coming from the pandemic, getting injured, seeing her go through that, make her return and make her return with IYO SKY and Dakota Kai.”

Mercedes Mone Reveals She Will Return To WWE

Former IWGP Women’s Champion Mercedes Mone is widely expected to debut in AEW in the coming weeks following months of speculation.

Given this rumour, it came as a surprise to many when Mone recently revealed that she was keen on a future return to WWE to handle ‘unfinished business’.
